Stanowisko: Java Developer – Rotterdam

For our client we are looking for a Java Developer, who has obtained a Master Degree in e.g. Computer Science, who likes to work on custom built software and writes clean code.

Our client is involved in determining the investment costs for a wide range of technical (industrial) projects. Companies want to be sure which investments should be made and if projects will eventually be profitable. They are operating in various industries, such as petrochemical, offshore and government, both national and international. For this purpose, also their own custom software is built in-house. The software has to meet the latest technological developments. With a young team of passionate professionals they try to achieve the best results for our clients.

• As a Java Developer you will be responsible in our organisation for advanced software solutions to solve technical issues presented to you. You have an alround skillset in various software technologies and tools. You have a passion for algorithms, data structures and performance improvements. You consider it a challenge to apply compiler techniques, develop a 3D viewer, or to implement a mathematical methodology in the software.
• You will be responsible for the development of technically advanced software. You will work in a team together with other disciplines, such as Cost Engineers, Java Engineers and Test Engineers. Coaching of other developers in the team on all aspects of software engineering is part of your activities. You will initiate software design improvements and you like to determine the added value of new technologies for our software application.

• A true passion for software engineering
• A university degree in Computer Science (`Informatica`)
• 2 to 6 years of experience in software engineering on various projects
• Knowledge of multiple languages, such as Java and SQL
• Experience with databases (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle)
• Experience with Java persistance frameworks (OpenJPA, preferably with JDO/Kodo), implemented for new projects
• Good knowledge of OOP, UML and Design Patterns
• A passion for algorithms and datastructures
• Skills to improve software performance
• Experience with the implementation of webservices
• In addition, the following skills and knowledge is preferred:
• J2EE, Apache Tomcat, Microsoft IIS
• XML, CSS/HTML
• Software development tools, such as Eclipse, JUnit, Cloud Development, Agile/Scrum/Lean, Android, 3D, Automated Builds design with quality tooling, Subversion/Git, Ant/Maven
